Summer Reading Programs

We’ve found that participating in summer reading programs is a fun way to encourage reading during the summer months.

I’ll be honest we try to keep learning simple and centered around the road trips or family projects we’re working on throughout the summer months. As a full-time entrepreneur that works from home, I implement an Hour of Power each work day that allows me to focus on specific tasks within my business. During that hour, my children are having quiet time and this is the perfect time for them to spend reading or writing about what they’ve read throughout the week.

A listing of summer reading programs your child can participate in to encourage them to read and write throughout the summer.

Here are few resources for summer reading programs and the fun incentives they offer:

Your Local Library

One of the first places to check for summer reading programs is your local library. Besides offering incentives for reading, they often offer free programs and activities throughout the summer. Introducing your children to all your local library has to offer at an early age will help to cultivate a love for reading and learning.

Your local librarian is a great resource for reading recommendations for your family.

Barnes and Nobles

Children can earn a free book from Barnes and Nobles when they read eight books and write a brief synopsis of what they read. Find all the details and reading recommendations by age here.
