Things have been a little quiet here on the blog throughout July. I’ve spent much of the month with family and friends – enjoying life. From family reunions to diva days out to playing in the rain with my little ones.

Making The Most out of Life’s Little Moments
My youngest son recently came up to me to tell me he had the best day ever. As far as I could tell we hadn’t done anything truly significant – no Chuck E Cheese, no ice cream, no water parks, just regular stuff. When I asked why his response gave me an emotional “mommy moment” – “Because I spent it with you, Silly”
No, every day can’t be like a day at the carnival. We can, however, make the most out of the moments we have and make them as enjoyable and memorable as possible. By treasuring the time we have with those we love, we can create memories and stories that will last a lifetime.

Enjoying Life: It’s Simple To Do
Sometimes we take the fun out of enjoying life by making it too complicated. There are simple things we can do within our daily lives to bring joy to ourselves and those around us.
- Have a lazy family day – spend time at home doing fun, family stuff together and disconnecting from social media, cell phones, etc
- Cross something off your bucket list
- Eat dessert first
- Take silly pictures and send them to a friend to brighten their day
- Sleep in
- Have a candle light dinner at home
- Take a walk around your neighborhood – wave and smile to those you pass
- Reach out to an old friend to say hello
- Decide what’s important and eliminate some of the unnecessary “stuff”
- Slow down and enjoy the moments you take for granted: cuddling with your kids, an extra hug from your spouse, a chat with a friend, etc

I love your list! It proves spending time with loved ones doesn’t have to cost and arm and a leg. Simply taking the time to eliminate outside distraction and giving your time! Great list! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Hey Michelle! This is so true my friend. Our family may or may not remember the so-called big events in their lives, but what they will remember are those small meaningful things. When my daughter comes over, we all sit around the kitchen table and guess what they talk about…all the small/simple “fun” things we did as a family! They always remember those! Our kids are 24, 22 and 17 and they still want to “hang out” with their parents. lol! I wouldn’t have it any other way! Thanks so much for sharing and thanks for linking up! Have a wonderful weekend my friend!!

Reading your list makes me miss my boys even more. We did all sorts of family/fun/silly things together. But I did get to spend a few hours with one son today. Never too busy when he's off work.

I think the disconnect from technology is a good idea, even though it’ll be hard for some to do. And what your son says makes me think that it’s really about thetime you spend together, not what you do necessarily.
Michelle says
His comment was definitely an eye-opener. So often we focus on doing “fun” and “costly” stuff and our kids are satisfied with true quality time!

Aw, your son is sweet. Glad that you’ve enjoyed so much family time this month.
Michelle says
Thanks Aubrey! He’s definitely a keeper…LOL

My 18 year old will still climb in the bed with us on weekend mornings. He has to be in the middle, just like when he was a young child. We all lay there and talk about things. He will leave for college in a few weeks. I wonder if he will still do that after he goes away and comes back.
Family time is so important. Time we spend with people is so rewarding.

How sweet!!!

That is so heart warming to hear about you and your son. I need to reach out to an old friend and NO CELL PHONES while having family time would prove a much better quality fellowship! Great list!

Thanks Joi! My youngest has a way of pulling at my heartstrings on a regular basis! He’s going to be quite a charmer when he gets older!
