Life happens. I’ve been in a season where that seems to be an on-going mantra – unexpected business trips; delayed and cancelled flights that cause me to extend trips an extra day; spontaneous road trips; and, sadly, even the sickness or death of a loved one.
All of that and more pretty much sum up the past year or so for me.
Even though I grew up less than 20 miles away from the Angel Oak Tree outside of Charleston, South Carolina, I had no idea it existed.
I go home on a regular basis but, I’ll be honest. I truly take for granted many of the sights and culture the area has to offer. To me it’s home. When I am there I’m focused on visiting family, eating my Daddy’s home cooking and catching up with my girlfriends that still live in the area.
Travelling is for many a dream. And it stays a dream, rather than becoming a reality, due to a misconception that it is all a bit too complicated. With the booking of flights and accommodation, the financial demands and the need to have fun all rolled into one it is easy to see why. However, there are ways to travel in a much simpler fashion that you expect.

First of all there are ways to simplify that dreaded aspect of travelling: the packing.
It’s that time of year again when the weather is turning brutally cold and no matter how hard you try or how high you turn the heat up you just can’t seem to get that chill out of your bones. So if you’ve only got a weekend to visit, there is plenty that you can fit in. If you’ve got longer to spend, there will be lots to fill the time too. There really is something for everyone there.
