It is very important to support your digestive health. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t until the past few years that I truly realized how much havoc we can wreak when we neglect our digestive health. Everything around us has some affect on how great – or not so great – our digestive system functions.
Let’s think this through – our digestive system breaks down our food to create the nutrients that our bodies need to function. When our body is not getting the proper nutrients it affects our energy levels, our overall health and wellness, our emotions, everything.

There are some simple steps we can take to help support our digestive health so we can feel better, live better and be better:
Stay hydrated. Isn’t it amazing how water seems to be on every “get healthy, feel better” list? Besides the many other health benefits of staying hydrated, water helps to break down your food so your body can digest the nutrients it needs.

Eat on a schedule. Believe it or not, your body functions synchronize to your eating schedule. When you miss or delay a meal, it goes into stress mode because it’s unsure of when it will receive nutrients again. This has been a struggle in our household as my husband has been dealing with several digestive-related issues. We have been working to regulate his diet and establish a routine so his body can work with him and not against him during the day.
