Goal Setting Success:
List Your Goals and Keep Them Visible
Surprisingly few people regularly make lists of their goals and even fewer put their lists where they can see them. Part of goal setting success is creating visuals that will keep your goals front-and-center on a regular basis and motivate you to remain focused and actively working towards your success.
A lot of money was once paid for the following famous goal setting advice given to a rich businessman:
Each night make a list of 6 things you need to do tomorrow and list the 6 tasks in order of priority. When tomorrow arrives, start on the first task and complete it. Then move on to the second task. If you don’t finish all your tasks add the unfinished ones to your list for the next day.
Goals could be listed for each day, each week, each month, each year and for life. You could even make lists for each project you are working on. The women that participate in our annual goals challenge are focused on specific goals and meet monthly to share their successes, areas of opportunity and brainstorm ideas to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
The First Step: List Your Goals
One resource they utilize is a goals journal that helps them to formulate their SMART Goals and list out measurable action steps for each month of the year. It’s something that can be easily slipped into their purse or planner and referenced throughout their day.
