How to Be More Action-Based (and Way Less Burned Out)
Let’s be real — if “being busy” paid the bills, most moms I know would be millionaires by now. We’re juggling ALL the things: grocery runs, group chats, guilt over screen time, and that never-ending mental to-do list that even Alexa couldn’t keep up with.
But being busy doesn’t always mean we’re moving forward. Trust me, I’ve learned (the hard way) that checking boxes isn’t the same as walking in purpose. That’s why I started shifting my daily rhythm from busy to intentional action — and it changed everything.
So let me let you in on the mantra that’s helped me stay grounded, productive, and yes, even fulfilled:
Be a DIVA: Driven, Inspiring, Victorious, and called to Action.
Not in a sparkle-boas-and-high-heels kinda way (unless that’s your thing — in which case, go off, Queen). But in a “showing up for yourself and your purpose” kinda way.

What’s the difference between being “busy” and taking action?
That’s a great question, friend. Because they feel the same… until you realize they’re not.
- Busy is that scattered, keep-it-moving energy. You’re doing a lot, but it’s not necessarily aligned with anything that matters deeply to you.
- Action-based means you’re focused, intentional, and strategic. Even the small things are tied to a bigger picture.
When I transitioned into full-time divapreneurship (yes, that’s a word now), I learned fast that being busy didn’t build my dream — taking aligned action did.
5 Ways to Be More Action-Based (Even When Life Is Loud)
Here’s what’s helped me stay grounded in action — not just activity:
1. Do the thing. Even if it’s a tiny version of the thing.
You learn by doing — not by overthinking. Start messy. Start small. Just start.
A few weeks ago, my best Diva was telling me about her “career bucket list.” I laughed at first (because honestly, what even is that?) — but by the end of the convo, I was inspired. She’s writing down all the things she’s always wanted to learn or try in her work — and taking action on them.
So here’s your permission slip: pull that “one day, someday” dream off the shelf. Dust it off. And do one small thing to move it forward today.
2. Set S.M.A.R.T. goals like your success depends on it (because it kinda does).
You’ve probably heard this a million times — but hear it one more time with love:
Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Realistic. Time-Based.
Not every goal has to be S.M.A.R.T. (we still romanticize the occasional vision board, let’s be honest). But for the major moves? This structure keeps you focused and out of the “wishful thinking” zone.
Set it. Track it. Celebrate the small wins.
3. Give back without burning out.
Service isn’t just about grand gestures — it’s in the everyday moments. A kind word, a shared resource, a “you’ve got this” text.
Inside the Divas With A Purpose community, we believe deeply in pouring into others — not to earn gold stars, but because generosity multiplies impact. And spoiler alert? Helping someone else also helps you feel more connected, confident, and motivated.
4. Find your passion, and build around it.
I can’t stress this enough: when you’re walking in your purpose, work doesn’t feel like a constant uphill climb. It still takes effort, yes. But you stop dreading Mondays, and you start designing a life you actually want to live in.
Not sure what your passion is? That’s okay. Pay attention to what lights you up. What drains you. What you daydream about when you’re supposed to be folding laundry.
Then follow the spark. (Even if it starts small.)
5. Celebrate the tiny wins — because they matter.
We downplay our impact so often. But let me tell you: the small stuff? It counts.
- The text of encouragement you sent? Made someone’s whole day.
- That tough conversation you initiated? Opened a door.
- Choosing to rest instead of overwork? That’s leadership too.
Stop waiting for a giant milestone to feel worthy. You’re already making a difference. Just by showing up.
