I can still hear my mother’s words to this day. Growing up, she tried to instill the importance of having a savings to my sisters and I. Not just with her words but with her actions.
We all had bank accounts early and would take bi-weekly trips to deposit a portion of our allowance earned from completing additional chores around the house.
I can vividly recall the first time I realized my tween son was struggling with his self-esteem.
He’d gotten in trouble for something and written an apology note to me. Throughout the note he referenced being “stupid” and “bad” and “not good enough”. It truly broke my heart.
