I really think my kids are smarter than me sometimes. Honestly, I think my (almost) two-year-old is the ringleader of the trio. She’s a little sponge of random information and sayings. We’ve learned to be very careful about what’s said and done in her presence.
Imagine my surprise, when she started rambling off colors correctly earlier this week! Her daycare provider mentioned that they were working on shapes and that Miss V was confidently naming many of them in her two-year-old talk.
This is my 5 year-old’s new favorite DVD. Most parents can relate – it’s that DVD that’s put on repeat until it mysteriously disappears. I can’t complain because it’s a fun and engaging 45 minutes that teaches him (and apparently his little sister) colors, shapes and counting. The concepts are intertwined within fun songs and games. My son quickly realized something was afoul – “Mommy, I’m learning things with this! They tricked me!” he announced one evening. “Shame on them, son, shame on them!”, I replied. No worries – that did not deter him from asking to watch it again…and again…and again…
I dare not tell him that there is a corresponding CD and book to this DVD. We’ll save that surprise for his Christmas stocking this year. I can’t give him too much fun all at once, you know.
The great thing about this DVD is that I will probably be enjoying it for another 2-3 years since Miss V has decided it’s one of her favorites as well.

Toddlers are really great fun Michelle. I can relate to this article in some ways..my very first granddaughter turned 1 year old just yesterday 23rd and it is amazing how many bright ideas she has at this stage. Dora is her favorite and my heart lit up with smiles each day as I look at her as she bounces, bop and dance to the music from that DVD. Children, they are a heritage from the Lord.
