Happy March-Eve, Divas! Another month is coming to an end and it’s been one packed with all kinds of awesomeness!
We kicked off the month of love celebrating some awesome divas … OURSELVES! I challenged us all to celebrate the wonderful diva we see in the mirror each day; work on our positive self-talk and be specific with the reasons why we’re so awesome. How did you do?
You were introduced to the members of this year’s Divatude Challenge and their individual personal and professional goals and challenges for the upcoming year. Catch up and chime in on their individual posts with encouragement, support, and suggestions.
Many thanks to Brittney, Janeane, Whitney, E’thoshia, and Kimberly for sharing their experiences with us all.
Speaking of goals, how are you all coming with your 2013 goals?
One of my 2013 goals is to have conversations with my children about savings and financial responsibilities – I got the perfect opportunity to start when my 11 year old announced he wanted to save up to purchase his first car by 17! My response? To go half on it with him by matching every dollar he saves between now and then! Wish us luck and check out how I’m teaching my kids about savings
Speaking of children, I got a little heated about the terrible words spoken about 9 year old Quvenzhane’ Wallis (the youngest person ever nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress!) and shared why I’m rooting for her to rise above the negativity. We have to encourage and motivate your children at all times to be the best that they can be.
Happy February Divas! Talk to you in March 🙂
What’s your best memory of the past month? Mine is the thank you note I found while cleaning out my oldest son’s backpack!

Cute idea for a blog post, recapping the month like this! One of my goals for a long time has been to pay off my massage therapy school and register with the state so I can work as an RMT legally. This year, our tax return was enough to do just that, so I called to find out how much I owed and it turns out that the school I went to no longer exists! So, my $2500 debt (approx) went POOF – I paid $25 for my transcript! God is amazing! Turns out that the state laws have changed since I went to school though, and I need another 200 hours before I can register, so I’m going back to school starting in March. Fun times ahead! Thanks for linking up with Fellowship Friday!

I’m with Jillian. Trying to do the same thing with my 5 year old. It’s an uphill battle!
Michelle says
The earlier the better! Way to go, Mom (-:
What are you doing with your 5 year old to help teach the value of a dollar?
Jillian says
I am not trying to teach my 8 year old the value of saving. The hardest thing is trying to teach him that he has to work for money and not just get it. So I usually reward him when he completes his chores. Have a great March month ladies.

Having to work for an allowance is definitely a lesson learned best at an early age. Good luck!

I’m doing OK with my fitness goal, but, I like yours. Also, love your blog design!
Michelle says
Glad you’re doing well with your fitness goals! Thanks for the compliment on the blog design. Have a great weekend!

I can’t believe we’re going into March already! February was such a busy month, not sure what my favorite memory was. Valentine’s Day was nice!

February was definitely a busy month! Glad you had a nice Valentine’s Day (-:

I’ve been trying to teach my kids about savings, but I get frustrated because they spend all their money on treats at the store. To stop them from doing this, I started buying boxes of treats in bulk and using them as rewards (or even selling them to them cheaper) but now when they want something they just ask me for the money – then say they need to save theirs! They’re catching on, I think. Now I’m leaning more towards getting them to earn it instead of holding out their hands!
Michelle says
It sounds like you’re going in the right direction. I’m a true believer in not just handing out an allowance every week or two. My son doesn’t get a regular allowance but if he goes above and beyond there’s usually an incentive. Also, he reaches out to family members to do odd jobs around their homes (raking leaves, cleaning patios, etc) to earn money.
Jennifer says
that is so nice of you to match the savings dollar for dollar, good incentive to save save save!
Michelle says
Most definitely! Now if I can find someone to match my savings dollar-for-dollar, we might be on to something 🙂
