Married life, children, a career, community service…that’s just the beginning of the list of responsibilities that I have. At some point not too long after my youngest son was born I realized I was just floating along. I was unhappy. I was doing “things” but nothing that truly brought me joy or a sense of purpose. I felt ashamed to admit it because I had a beautiful family, a great job and all the things that seemingly should have made me happy and fulfilled.

Every summer my girlfriends (the #DivaCrew) and I gather for our annual Summer Cookout. It’s a time to get our families together and just enjoy some one-on-one time with everyone.
I am blessed with an incredible family and wonderful friends. July is a month that is jam-packed with family and friends. Both sides of my family have annual reunions and my Divas make it a point to have a family cookout at my house each year. I’m unwinding from spending the weekend at the home of my mother’s parents – a home that holds countless memories and stories for me.
My family provides the support I need to reach my goals and excel.
This past weekend I went to see The Best Man Holiday with my “Divas”.
The movie and the overall themes of friendship and love have resonated with me throughout the week.
No spoilers, I promise. However, before I give my thoughts I have to give the back story who The Divas are.
This weekend a dear friend entrusted me with the task of putting together a gender reveal party. This is totally outside my area of expertise but it was fun to get out of my comfort zone and do something for a wonderful diva!
A gender reveal party is a fun way to get close family and friends together and reveal to them the sex of your family’s newest addition. Typically it is held about 15-20 weeks into a women’s pregnancy.
September is International Women’s Friendship Month. If you’re familiar with Divas With A Purpose, you’ll know that I’m quite thankful for friendship and try to foster positive, working, balanced relationships between women in my personal and professional lives.
Generally, the friendships among women are stronger than the bonds between men. Overall, we’re more emotional and our friendships and relationships take on those traits, as well.
